Manhole (1981, MN06) is a Game & Watch game. Manhole later
appeared as model number NH-103 as part of the New Wide Screen series in 1983. Like Fire, it had sharper graphics.
Gameplay
In the game, you must save pedestrians from falling into manholes by covering them up. If one falls through, you will lose and will have to start over. Each of the four buttons corresponds to an opening in the street. The player must use the buttons to close the manholes before pedestrians fall through the open holes and into the sewers.

Re-Releases
A remake of the New Wide Screen version of Manhole appeared
in the first Game Boy Gallery, released in 1994, in which the player controls
Yoshi. Mario occasionally runs across the screen. This version of Manhole was
one of the cards included with purchase of the Nintendo e-Reader, and was unlockable in Game & Watch Gallery
4. Nintendo released Manhole as a DSiWare game in August 2009.
Reviews
A faithful DSware version of the game was reviewed by Nintendolife in 2010, scoring 6/10. The main downside was having to play at a snail's pace at the start, before the gameplay sped up and became more interesting.

Trivia
- In the Super Smash Bros. series, Mr. Game & Watch's down-A attack makes him hit a opponent with the objects he used to cover the ground in Manhole.
- An e-Reader version of the game was sold with every purchase of an e-Reader for free called Manhole-e.
Rarity
Both are fairly rare games, unlike many of the multiscreens, and infrequently seen on Ebay.
